Unstable Shores. Sanzhiyka

A photo essay by Oleksandr Naselenko about a resort village on the Odesa coast.

A slope before me descends gently into the sea, like a holiday cake cut into pieces. They are covered with fresh green grass and flowers, constantly moving towards the water like little islands breaking away from the mainland. When you jump onto one of them, climb over to the next, lie on your back, and look up at the sky, you become more acutely aware of the movement of all matter in the world. I think about the thousands of years of ongoing landslides and landscape transformations shaped by the sea, the wind, and gravity. For a moment, I feel as though I am merging with this descent, which slowly stretches through time and space.
